How to use Autodesk AutoCAD Software

AutoCAD can be a very frustrating software for beginners. No need, to worry, I'm here to help! Here is a Autodesk AutoCAD tutorial I created myself.

First, start up AutoCAD. Then, click new, here you can choose either an assembly file, presentation file, drawing or part file. Before you do any of this though, you need to make a project file first. Click "projects", and then hit new. Name your project file and create it. This is where you will store all of your files.

Now you can decide which file to start off with. You need a part file for all the other files,  so create a part file. Now click "new sketch".  At the top will be lots of options. To make an object, just click something simple, like a square or rectangle. To give it specific dimensions, click "dimension" then click the side you want dimensioned, and drag out. Something will pop up and just type in the dimensions. After you have done this, click "finish sketch". Now click the extrude button at the top and choose how big you want the object to be. There will be many options at the top. Chamfer, for example, with cut off edges of your part.

Now you should have a nice rectangle or square. To make a circle come off of it, click new sketch. Click on the top of the rectangle. Now choose the circle option and put one on top of the rectangle. Finish the sketch. Now, click extrude and click the circle. Good job!

To color these objects, click the color wheel and choose a color. Then, highlight the object and it will change to that color.

Now that you know how to make a part file, make at least 2 more. Now we can make an assembly file. This will make all the parts attach together, useful when you need to make a huge part but have to make it in separate pieces. OK, create an assembly file. Now click "base". Highlight your 3 part files and click OK. Now, click attach. Choose "mate". Click 2 sides of different part files to mate. Then click attach again but this time choose "flush". Flush twice. Great! Now you have an assembly file.

Now with your assembly file, you can make a presentation file. Create a new presentation file. Now choose your assembly file inside the presentation file. You can animate it and make the parts do flips before they come together now.

I really hope this helped you guys, feel free to ask me any questions!
